A Guide to Qatar Airways Name Change and Correction Policy


Qatar Airways permits limited corrections of names and rigid processes of changing names in the majority of cases, with certain eligibility, distinct limitations and charges, which passengers should know to avoid problems prior to traveling. Qatar Airways Policy of Name Change

Qatar Airways does not allow changing the full name but due to other reasons than legal occurrences like marriage, divorce, or adoption, which can be proven by government papers. 

The Qatar Name Change Policy allows minor amendments of up to three characters (including spaces and titles) in the full name once per booking as long as the travel has not been initiated and the ticket is not partially redeemed. 

The case of changes is limited in the following situations:

Interline and codeshare flights (except in a few cases)

Partially redeemed tickets or check-in.

Repeat reservations ( Privilege Club)

Taking the ticket and replacing it with another individual. 

A complete change of name due to legal reasons needs to be accompanied by certified documents such as a marriage certificate or adoption decree and can only be effected at Qatar Airways support or at the airport. 

Name Correction and Change Procedure

The number of corrections requested can be an amount of three characters, which can be made through the online service of Manage Booking on the Qatar Airways official site:

Log in and select the booking

Click on Edit Name and correct.

Send and get email response. 

One can also correct this offline by calling the customer care or going to the airport counter to give booking information and documents. 

In case of serious legal modifications (marriage, divorce), call customer care and be prepared to deliver supporting legal documentation. 

In case the change is not allowed (e.g. more than three characters, wrong person) the new booking has to be done and the previous ticket has to be canceled. 


Name Change and Correction Fees

Changes may be free in some cases in case of corrections done within 24 hours of booking, depending on the type of fare. 

A Qatar Name Change fee is normally paid to correct the name in case of requests made after 24 hours or exceeding scope (more than three characters) of name. Minor corrections cost approximately $150, though it can change depending on the type of ticket, class, and time. 

Legal name change requests (documented) can carry charge and change of fare, which have to be paid prior to check-in. 

The penalty can also be divided into two parts one of the round-trip ticket if there is such and the other for pay the fare if necessary.
